 I honestly was not sure about this book when I first requested it, but I decided to try it out because I needed a new fiction book to read. The cover really drew me in and the synopsis sealed the deal.  The first chapter absolutely drew me in and convinced me to finish the book. The main character is fantastic. She is strong and smart but needs a little more work on her tact and discreetness in undercover work.  There is a through-line of potential romance and the reader is never quite sure if that will be followed through in this book until the last few chapters. The plotline was really well-written and believable between the female and male main characters.  I honestly would love more stories from this author and with these characters at the investigation agency.  If asked to describe this book, the best answer would be "comforting" and "lovely". This story is all about family - the loss of it, the finding and building of it and most of all - all of the different feelings that come with having a family.  Olive as the main character, having just lost her last family member and is trying to figure out what she should do next in this weird time occurring after World War II. So when her old friend Margery comes back to town and decides to operate two different businesses including a boarding house and she wants Olive to manage it.  A classic drama book that manages to skillfully incorporate several ideas and themes from each character into the story. Themes like found family, ableism, living with disabilities and homosexuality are consistent throughout and are written very well.  If sexy, paranormal thriller is what you are looking for, then this book is a fantastic one to add to your list. However, more than just the sexiness of this, the characters make this story,  There are some really interesting themes throughout the story on being different and trying to fit in even when you know that nothing will ever change and you'll never fit in. The main lead of the story definitely has some abandonment issues and family-related trauma that can be seen throughout most aspects of her story. The secondary lead also has a lot of similar feelings and trauma as well which makes it more understandable that these two latch onto each other so fast and early in the story.  There is definitely a suspension of disbelief around the romance and domesticated love of the two characters, but really not any suspension than other romance/sexy books.  Honestly even without the racy sexual side of this story, it would still be an intriguing premise and idea that the author is writing about. Definitely not for under the age of eighteen ;) The sexual scenes do not detract from the overall plot or overwhelm which can be hard not to do in this type of genre. These scenes are fun, slightly unrealistic but written very well and the reader can't help but enjoy them.  One story aspect that I would love to read more about besides the rest of the series that I am eagerly looking forward too is a prequel about the start of the group/business that the readers are immediately introduced too by the protagonist. The idea of these rich girls becoming essentially vigilantes against this list of evil people and what they decided to do about it is such an intriguing concept.  This is a fun, sexy romp with some deep undertones and it just flies by and leaves you with a little tease of the future books that makes you want more.  ...

 Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite classics to read and reimagining's and reinventions of classics are some of my favorite stories to read. And this book is no exception. When I first read the premise, I was curious as to just how the author would turn this into a new story while still retaining the main ideas from the original.  This story does not have as many characters as the original book although most of them were mentioned. However, out of the Bennet family, only Elizabeth was an active character in the story.  The premise of the book that spun out to create the story was a fascinating glimpse into what could be if after Mr. Collins proposal, Mr. Bennett died and the Bennett family went through what Mrs. Bennett always feared would happen.  This is a fun little Christmas story with familiar characters and a fun little misunderstanding debacle that the reader can't believe goes on for as long as it does.  I devoured this book in record time and then immediately was ready for more. Saffron Everleigh is a wonderful protagonist and a delightful heroine. The supporting characters are also incredible additions to the story as well.  There are two points of view throughout the story - of course Saffrons point of view and then Alexander Ashton who has his point of view scattered throughout as well. However, Kate Khavari did an excellent job in not letting Alexander Ashton and his pov overwhelm the story.  It's hard to express just how much I love Saffron as a character.  I decided to read this book because I was looking for get back into reading fun little rom-com books again and if you are looking for a fun, easy read for a summer afternoon, this is a book for you. It does have a few more spicy moments in it, but they are not very graphic and they are done pretty fast.  There are some really interesting secondary plotlines in the book that I enjoyed. There is a whole secondary story with the main characters family and her dealing with her past and working with her parents that I wish was given more attention.  Honestly, I really did enjoy this book, but I could also see all the other stories that could have been possible with the romance as a secondary storyline and the book been more of a dramatic book.  I received this book free from NetGalley and the publishers to review and this is my honest review.  Four out of five stars
